SCG Vessel Successfully Navigates Strait of Hormuz After Diplomatic Efforts

Bangkok: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) announced on Sunday that an SCG-owned vessel has successfully exited the Strait of Hormuz, following high-level diplomatic efforts involving Oman and Iran. According to Thai News Agency, the breakthrough comes after Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow conducted an official visit to Oman from April 15-17. During the trip, Sihasak requested Omani authorities to coordinate with Tehran to expedite the passage of Thai ships stalled in the volatile waterway. "The Ministry has been informed by the management of Siam Cement Group (SCG) that one of their two vessels has now cleared the Strait," the MFA said in a statement. The ministry added that it is closely monitoring the situation and will provide further updates once the vessel arrives in Thailand. Efforts remain underway to assist the remaining Thai-linked vessels still navigating the passage. The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical chokepoint for global trade, where Thai officials have recently stepped up diplomatic engagement to ensure the safety of commercial shipping.
