School Uniform Prices Remain Stable Amid “Back To School 2026” Campaign

Bangkok: School uniform prices have remained stable as the Department of Internal Trade emphasizes price controls and clear labeling. Most stores continue to sell uniforms at last year's prices, and parents are encouraged to benefit from the 'Back To School 2026' promotion, which offers discounts of up to 86% until May 31st.

According to Thai News Agency, the Department of Internal Trade conducted a survey in the Wongwian Yai area of Thonburi District, Bangkok, monitoring the "Thai Helps Thai Plus: Back to School 2026" campaign. Retailers such as Thonburi Education Co., Ltd., S. Chang Education, and Tra Samor Department Store are cooperating to keep parental expenses down by maintaining prices despite increased transportation costs. They continue to sell existing stock at original prices and offer additional discounts on school supplies and services like free embroidery of names or school initials.

Early May 2026 data from Bangkok's department stores, distributors, and general shops reveal that the selling prices of school uniforms largely remain stable compared to the previous year. Boys' school shirts (Somjai Nook brand) are priced between 215-360 baht per piece, and boys' school trousers (Topson brand) range from 325-375 baht per piece. Girls' school shirts (Somjai Nook brand) are priced between 165-360 baht. Although some items have seen slight price increases, such as boys' school shirts (Nomjit brand) and boys' school trousers (Somjai Nook brand), others have decreased, like boys' school trousers (Samor brand) and girls' school skirts (Samor brand). This pricing remains within an affordable range for parents.

The ongoing "Thai Helps Thai Plus: Back to School, Budget-Friendly" 2026 project, running from April 30 to May 31, 2026, involves 49 businesses offering over 1,000 educational products and services at discounted rates, expected to reduce the public's cost of living by at least 300 million baht.

For parents outside Bangkok, the Department of Internal Trade, along with provincial commerce offices, is organizing the "Thai Helps Thai Plus: Back To School 2026" event to improve access to affordable goods. Besides school uniforms and supplies, essential household items like cooking oil, sugar, and eggs are also available at special prices to ease financial burdens during the back-to-school season.

The Department has mandated businesses to display product prices clearly and sell goods at the marked price. Non-compliance could result in fines of up to 10,000 baht, while intentionally high pricing could lead to imprisonment of up to 7 years or fines up to 140,000 baht, or both.
