Samut Songkhram:Flocks of seagulls migrating to escape the cold have returned to Don Hoi Lod, attracting tourists and families to admire their beauty by the sea. The number of seagulls is expected to reach thousands during the winter season.
According to Thai News Agency, at Don Hoi Lod in the Bang Chakek Subdistrict of Mueang District, Samut Songkhram Province, common gulls are beginning their migration, foraging along the coast to escape the cold weather in Central Asia. These gulls typically arrive in Thailand at the end of the year before migrating back to their original habitats in the summer. This year, hundreds of gulls have already appeared, with expectations of thousands gathering, revitalizing Don Hoi Lod. Tourists, along with their families and children, are visiting to experience the natural atmosphere and take close-up photos of the flocks of birds soaring over the sea, especially from late afternoon until sunset.
Besides the natural beauty, the return of the seagulls also generates income for local businesses and vendors. This includes shops selling bird food and local seafood restaurants frequented by tourists. Many families enjoy spreading out mats, relaxing by the sea, and eating local dishes such as stir-fried razor clams, steamed blue crab, fried sea bass with fish sauce, and salted mackerel stew, while watching the seagulls amidst the natural coastal atmosphere of the Mae Klong River.
A male tourist who brought his family to see the flocks of seagulls revealed that he felt happy and impressed with the natural atmosphere at Don Hoi Lod, especially seeing the flocks of seagulls flying freely above the water, a sight he doesn't often get to see. He took the opportunity to bring his children to experience nature after hearing that the seagulls had begun migrating back.
For locals and tourists interested in seeing flocks of seagulls, Don Hoi Lod in Samut Songkhram Province is open every day. The best time to visit is around 2 PM until sunset. Visitors can also experience coastal life and sample the famous seafood of Mae Klong.
