New York: The Secretary-General has expressed his support for the recent ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand, viewing it as a crucial step towards resolving ongoing conflicts and reducing tensions in the region. He has called on both nations to honor the terms of the agreement and to foster an environment that will facilitate addressing long-standing issues and achieving a sustainable peace.
According to EMM, the Secretary-General has also praised Malaysia, which currently holds the chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), along with the United States and China, for their significant efforts in facilitating a peaceful resolution to the situation. The involvement of these countries has been pivotal in reaching the current ceasefire agreement and in supporting diplomatic efforts in the region.
