Bangkok:General Chaiyapruk Duangprapat, Secretary-General of the National Security Council, is involved in preparing security measures for the upcoming 2026 IMF-World Bank summit.
According to Thai News Agency, General Chaiyapruk confirmed that intelligence reports have not yet indicated any signs of abnormality. The Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police is primarily responsible for these preparations, which include contingency plans and various security measures to ensure the safety of leaders and dignitaries from many countries attending the meeting.
While addressing concerns regarding potential protests, General Chaiyapruk noted that such activities are considered normal expressions of differing opinions. He also mentioned that in response to the Prime Minister's previous instruction to enhance intelligence gathering, discussions on intelligence operations are ongoing. There will be weekly reports to facilitate the exchange of important information and monitor issues that require attention at different times. Regular assessments will continue to ensure a thorough evaluation of the situation.
