Nonthaburi: A sedan blocked the path of an emergency vehicle attempting to pick up a critically ill patient. Despite the flashing lights, siren, and announcements over the loudspeaker, the driver refused to move and even braked suddenly, almost causing the emergency vehicle to miss its scheduled arrival to pick up the patient.
According to Thai News Agency, footage from a rescue vehicle's dashcam at Pak Kret Five-Way Intersection shows a black sedan in front slowing down and braking intermittently. The rescue vehicle attempted to overtake on the left but was blocked by traffic. An announcement was made over the loudspeaker, asking the vehicle in front to move aside so the rescue vehicle could pick up an unconscious patient. The video clearly shows there were no other vehicles obstructing the sedan in front of it.
Volunteers from the Ruam Katanyu Foundation in Nonthaburi recounted receiving a call from the Phra Nang Klao Hospital emergency medical services center requesting assistance with an elderly patient who was unconscious and in critical condition at a village in Soi Tiwanon Pakkret 27, Pakkret District. They rushed to the scene, using flashing lights and sirens throughout the journey. Upon exiting the Pakkret Five-Intersection tunnel, they encountered a black sedan in the far right lane that refused to yield. They announced the emergency over the loudspeaker, but the sedan continued to brake intermittently and slow down. When an opportunity arose, the ambulance quickly overtook the sedan on the left.
