Senate Casino Committee Issues Agenda to Invite Paethongtarn to Attend Meeting

Bangkok: Senate Casino Committee issues agenda to invite ‘Paethongtarn’ to attend the meeting first. Spokesperson of the Committee denies it is a resolution and explains that the discussion of the work framework has set 3 points for study.

According to Thai News Agency, reporters covered the meeting of the special committee tasked with studying the potential opening of a full-service entertainment complex in Thailand. The committee, chaired by Mr. Weerapan Suwannammai, has scheduled its second meeting for tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. The main agenda is to consider the concept and guidelines for establishing a full-service entertainment complex, with an invitation extended to Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, to attend.

Mr. Chaiyong Maneerungsakul, a senator and spokesman for the committee, clarified in an interview that no resolution was made to invite outsiders to the next meeting. He mentioned that the work framework would be discussed after selecting individuals for various positions. The proposal to establish subcommittees will be considered after finalizing the discussion on the work framework, including the necessity and number of such subcommittees.

Mr. Chaiyong outlined the committee’s focus on studying three primary issues: the potential benefits to the public and the country if casinos are permitted, the impact of a full-service entertainment venue on Thai society, and the preventive measures necessary to address potential societal issues.
