Bangkok: The Senate held a National Children's Day event, opening its meeting room for children to sit in the president's chair.
According to Thai News Agency, the event was organized by the Secretariat of the Senate under the theme "Under the Auspices of Her Majesty the Queen Mother." Mr. Mongkol Surasajja, President of the Senate, led the ceremony, joined by senators and the Secretary-General of the Senate, Mrs. Pannita Sathantraiphop.
Senate President Mongkol Surasatcha addressed the children and youth, describing them as blank canvases poised for growth. He underscored the limitless learning opportunities available today and the importance of instilling good values. The event theme emphasized Thailand's prosperity under a benevolent monarchy, which has ensured a high quality of life for its citizens. Mongkol highlighted the necessity for children to embrace and utilize technology while being protected from its adverse effects by their parents. He also stressed the importance of environmental protection amidst technological advances and the need for national unity to address potential unrest, particularly in border areas. This aligns with the 2026 motto: "Love the Nation, Protect the Environment, Embrace Technology." He expressed hope for children to develop into responsible citizens, emphasizing loyalty to national institutions, gratitude towards their elders, and readiness for digital transformation.
The event's atmosphere was vibrant, with children given the chance to sit in the President's chair and receive gifts. Senator Phinyapatch Sansaneechivin added to the excitement by dressing as Mario and engaging with the children through games and snacks.
