Senate President Advocates for Technological Literacy at Children’s Day 2026

Bangkok: The Senate President opened the National Children's Day 2026 event, emphasizing the importance of technological literacy among children and youth, while also urging for environmental conservation and national sovereignty protection. The event, themed "Under the Auspices of Her Majesty the Queen, the Mother of the Nation," was organized by the Secretariat of the Senate. The opening ceremony was attended by senators, Mrs. Pannita Sathantraiphop, Secretary-General of the Senate, and executives from the Senate Secretariat.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Mongkol Surasatcha, President of the Senate, delivered a speech highlighting the limitless learning opportunities available to children today, describing them as blank canvases destined to shape the future. He stressed the necessity of instilling good values and the significance of the monarchy in Thailand's prosperity, attributing the nation's growth to the royal family's sacrifices.

Mr. Surasatcha emphasized that the current generation is growing up amidst rapid technological advancements, making it crucial for them to harness technology's benefits while being cautious of its potential downsides. He called upon parents to guide their children in navigating technology responsibly. Additionally, he addressed the environmental changes driven by technological progress, urging collective efforts towards environmental preservation.

The Senate President also highlighted security concerns, particularly in border areas, stressing the importance of national unity to protect sovereignty. He praised the support for frontline soldiers, aligning with the National Children's Day 2026 motto: "Love the Nation, Protect the Environment, and Embrace Technology."

The event at the Parliament Building was vibrant, attracting numerous children and parents. Activities included stage performances and educational booths offering prizes. Notable booths were "Following in the Footsteps of the Queen Mother," "Learning about Democracy," and "Little Heroes Protecting the Green World." A standout feature was the chance for children to sit in the Senate President's chair, providing a firsthand understanding of the Senate's role. Activities concluded at 12:00 PM.
