Bangkok: Senator Pisit remains unconcerned about the potential outcomes of the ongoing collusion case involving senators, even if it results in a suspension or removal from his duties. He acknowledges having lingering questions about the copycat accusations but expresses readiness to explain himself to the full Election Commission (EC) if requested, maintaining that his actions have been honest and constitutional.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phisit Apiwattanapong, a senator, addressed the submission of the collusion case file by the 26th Central Investigation and Inquiry Committee to the Secretary-General of the EC. He stated that he is not troubled by the developments, asserting that both the EC and the senators are performing their respective duties within the legal framework. He emphasized that during the inquiry by the 26th Committee, the senators complied with all procedures, and thus, he has no reason for concern.
When questioned about the impending 8-month countdown, Mr. Pisit expressed no apprehension, asserting his confidence in having acted according to the constitution. He reiterated his lack of worry about the situation.
Senator Pisit also confirmed his willingness to attend further inquiries if summoned by the EC Secretary-General or the full EC. He assured that there would be no issues or impediments in complying with such requests.
Addressing the allegations of copycat accusations, Mr. Phisit noted that the claims involve 138 individuals, with accusations reportedly being replicated with only names altered, and sometimes scores remaining unchanged.
Regarding the possibility that the case’s progress might lead to senators being suspended or removed from their positions, Mr. Phisit affirmed his commitment to fulfilling his duties. He emphasized the senators’ readiness to cooperate with the EC and reiterated his lack of concern over the matter.
