Nakhon pathom: Petty Officer 1st Class Yot Singh conducted a raid on an illegal plastics factory in Nakhon Pathom, uncovering hazardous conditions that led to its immediate shutdown. The factory was found to be extremely dirty, with black smoke, toxic odors, and dust so thick it was difficult to breathe. The machinery was completely broken, posing a significant fire hazard. Operations were conducted without adherence to rules and standards.
According to Thai News Agency, Petty Officer 1st Class Yotsing Liamlert, who also serves as the Deputy Minister of Industry, initiated the raid following multiple complaints from residents about daily fumes and toxic odors emanating from the factory. Many families had to seal their homes, though the odors still managed to infiltrate. The inspection revealed a chaotic scene with a mountain of plastic waste, slippery floors, rusted machinery, and dangling electrical wires posing immediate risks. The factory’s exhaust system was malfunctioning, spreading chemical odors into the community instead of containing them within the premises.
Inspectors also discovered that the factory had illegally installed four additional plastic crushers, bypassing legal requirements. Raw materials were carelessly strewn outside the building, with no regard for safety or community impact.
The Nakhon Pathom Provincial Industrial Office has issued legal orders to cease operations and overhaul the air treatment system. Proper storage of raw materials and discontinuation of illegal machinery use are mandatory. Legal action will be pursued against the company for unauthorized factory expansion under industrial law.
Petty Officer 1st Class Yotsingh emphasized the severity of the situation faced by villagers and deemed the factory’s conditions unacceptable. He has mandated its closure and immediate corrective actions. Failure to comply will result in permanent closure without any further leniency.
This operation is being closely monitored as a strong indication from the Ministry of Industry that non-compliance with laws and disregard for public health will not be tolerated.
