Bangkok: The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has introduced new criteria aimed at attracting New Economy companies across 10 target industry groups, both domestic and international. These changes, set to take effect on September 11, 2026, are designed to facilitate easier and quicker capital raising for businesses, including those promoted by the Board of Investment (BOI) and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
According to Thai News Agency, the SET's revision of its listing criteria aligns with the evolving economic context and international standards. This initiative is expected to provide greater access to New Economy companies in industries such as medical and healthcare, modern automotive, and smart electronics. Companies benefiting from the BOI and EEC promotions, along with leading foreign firms, will find new opportunities to raise capital in the Thai market while adhering to stringent quality, financial, and disclosure standards.
Mr. Assadej Kongsiri, Director and President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand, emphasized that the business structure of listed companies in the Thai capital market has remained largely unchanged for the past three decades. With rapid growth in New Economy industries, accessible funding sources have become crucial. The revised listing criteria mark a significant step in upgrading the Thai capital market, aligning with the 3-year strategic plan (2026-2028) under the vision "The Trusted Gateway to Inclusive Opportunities." This change is expected to facilitate faster and more convenient fundraising for companies affiliated with the BOI and EEC, as well as top international companies, while maintaining quality standards. It opens up opportunities for Thai investors to grow alongside these emerging industries.
The updated criteria have been developed through stakeholder consultations and have received approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC). Key points include revised eligibility criteria for companies in 10 New Economy industry groups, adjustments to IPO criteria for foreign companies already listed on overseas exchanges, and revised terms for the post-listing share prohibition period to better align with international standards. Detailed information about these updates is available on the SET website.
