Bangkok: Shane Thana and his wife are so busy with live streaming that they don't have time to take care of themselves. If they're lucky, they might be able to clear all their debts within 3 years. Hoping to find more light in his life, Shane Thana, or Thanatrachat Phuchokanan, a former boy band member turned businessman, previously faced a debt crisis of over 800 million baht from investments in product manufacturing and was sued by business partners for unpaid bills. He didn't run away and instead focused on live-streaming and selling products to pay off his debts, as previously reported.
According to Thai News Agency, Shane and his wife, James Kalakanya, most recently attended an event on March 24, 2026, and opened up to the media about their journey. Shane expressed his nervousness about facing so many reporters, recalling that the last time he had seen such a crowd was in front of the police headquarters. After being away from the public eye for over 15 months, he felt happy and energized to be among people again. For the past 15 months, he has been focused solely on live streaming and problem-solving, with his life taking a significant turn from being a public figure to leading a more secluded existence. Shane revealed that his debts have been strategically allocated for 3-6 years, and he is hopeful for the day when he can earn more than he owes, aspiring to return to a normal life.
Shane further explained that the previous year saw a slowdown in debt clearance due to lawsuits, managing to pay off 20-30 million baht, leaving approximately 580 million baht still outstanding. Despite the challenges, he remains optimistic and determined to continue fighting, with James closely monitoring the situation. They acknowledge that the repayment period might extend due to recent media attention, but they remain hopeful for a resolution.
James shared insights into their family life, noting that their two older children are attending school normally, with the support of benevolent businessmen who help with their education. She is currently seeking a more cost-effective school for their twins, as they prepare to start their education. James emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for their children, even under challenging circumstances, and hopes for a stronger start to the year. She believes that their creditors recognize their dedication, and if fortunate, they aim to repay their debts within 3 years; otherwise, it might take 6-7 years.
Addressing concerns about his health, Shane admitted to experiencing numbness in his hands and eye strain due to marathon live streaming sessions. He plans to get a health checkup after the 4.4 festival, attributing his symptoms to a lack of sleep. Shane acknowledged the need to prioritize his well-being and mentioned that if necessary, his wife would take over the live streaming responsibilities. Their current lifestyle leaves little time for self-care, with Shane even resorting to eating during live streams. He and James have divided their responsibilities, with James focusing on their children and helping them understand the family's situation.
