Twin falls: A shooting near a fast-food restaurant in a busy shopping district of Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday afternoon local time (August 1) has left three people dead and five injured. The incident began at approximately 2:29 p.m. local time near an In-N-Out Burger restaurant, where many shoppers were present at the time. The Twin Falls Police Chief confirmed that three people died, including the suspected gunman, and that the public threat in the area had ended. At least five people were also injured and taken to hospitals.

According to Thai News Agency, witnesses at the scene described the assailant, dressed in black and carrying an assault rifle, as he emerged from the drive-thru area of the fast-food restaurant and opened fire on people. A man carrying a handgun returned fire in an attempt to subdue the gunman. Amidst the chaos, employees and customers fled for their lives. Images show restaurant staff helping a colleague who had been shot in the chest to safety for first aid.

Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies mobilized to control the chaotic situation, clear the area, and question those involved. Roads and nearby bridges were immediately closed following the incident, and the public was advised to avoid the area. The FBI is cooperating with local police to identify the gunman and investigate his motive.
