Bangkok: “Commander Kung” has announced his decision to conclude his involvement in border security operations, allowing the Second Army Region Commander and the Army spokesman to provide necessary clarifications for cohesion and transparency.
According to Thai News Agency, Lieutenant General Boonsin Phadklang, who is the former commander of the Second Army Area and an advisor to the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, attended an academic seminar titled “Understanding MOU 43-44 Thailand-Cambodia: From Agreement to Implementation” at the King Prajadhipok’s Institute. In his capacity as Special Advisor to the Secretary-General of the King Prajadhipok’s Institute and Director of the Advanced Diploma Program in Building a Peaceful Society, Lt. Gen. Boonsin shared insights from his extensive experience.
Lt. Gen. Boonsin stated that he is not an academic by profession but has dedicated his life to practical experiences. From his graduation to attaining the rank of Second Lieutenant, he has navigated through a society marked by instability. He emphasized the importance of fieldwork in understanding the challenges faced by people in their daily lives and highlighted that addressing issues directly, despite potential dangers, has been a critical part of his approach. He articulated that achieving a peaceful society hinges on the effective management of people and space.
Following the seminar, when questioned about the Thai-Cambodian border situation, Lt. Gen. Boonsin clarified that his current participation was in his capacity as director of the 4S course. He mentioned that the discontinuation of border defense and security operations was intended to allow the Second Army Region Commander and the Army spokesman to unify the approach and clarify any misunderstandings. Addressing concerns related to the suspension of Thailand’s peace declaration, Lt. Gen. Boonsin expressed his support for the Prime Minister, stressing the importance of staying composed and prioritizing the nation’s interests amidst differing perspectives.
