Chonburi: "Sia Heng" has declared that the Chonburi area is firmly under his control and emphasized that no MPs from other parties will be allowed to gain a foothold there. He highlighted the strong sense of community in Chonburi, likening it to a family, and took a jab at the Move Forward Party for their absence in the region. He questioned their whereabouts during crises and noted their failure to visit the people suffering in Chonburi.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, a leader of the Bhumjaithai Party and candidate for Member of Parliament in Chonburi Constituency 1, commented on the prevailing political atmosphere in Chonburi. He remarked that in any election, it is crucial for every party and candidate to assess the situation independently. He conveyed the confidence of party leaders and supporters that the current atmosphere in Chonburi is markedly different from the times when they held power in 2011 and 2019. In 2023, the dynamics shifted again with other parties in power, yet Chonburi preserved its sense of brotherhood and family. The local community, composed of people who have grown up together, serves as a unifying force, offering support even when there is no direct interaction with their MP.
Mr. Suchart criticized the Move Forward Party, pointing out that in 2013, their elected MPs did not engage in campaigning within their constituencies. Consequently, they were disconnected from their electorate. He asserted that the notion of MPs solely being lawmakers without addressing public needs is mere rhetoric. Representatives have a duty to respond to the needs of those who elected them, especially in times of distress. Mr. Suchart believes that the people of Chonburi and the entire Eastern region now recognize the importance of having representatives who are responsible and accountable.
When questioned about Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut's visit to the area, Mr. Suchart dismissed its impact, stating that Mr. Nattapong has neither helped the people of Chonburi nor addressed their suffering. Regarding the prospect of securing all 10 districts, Mr. Suchart expressed confidence in at least winning one, emphasizing unity and cooperation among the people and leaders of Chonburi to advance their region.
Mr. Suchart also addressed the Bhumjaithai Party's campaign strategy, stating there was no need for strategic shifts in the final stretch. The party's focus remains on areas with high needs, with clear communication and proximity to Bangkok aiding their efforts. He mentioned the tangible benefits, such as the government's co-payment scheme, that the party provides to local vendors, contrasting it with mere complaints without solutions.
Finally, Mr. Suchart dismissed concerns about Mr. Pita Limjaroenrat's popularity, questioning his presence during national crises. He recounted a story of a Grab driver who recalled his efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting his commitment to supporting the community irrespective of personal risk. This, he asserted, is the true responsibility of a Member of Parliament.
