Bangkok: Siam Music Yamaha is on a quest to find young musical talents to compete on an Asian platform through the 'Siam Music Yamaha Presents, we are SNEAKER AGES Thailand Band Competition 2026,' with prizes exceeding 1.5 million baht. Siam Music Yamaha Co., Ltd., under the Siam Motor Group, has joined forces with Japan's "miki music mirai" to host this significant music competition. The project focuses on selecting high school students from across Thailand to represent the country in the grand finale of an Asian-level music competition in Osaka, Japan.
According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Peerawat Chukiati, Managing Director of Siam Yamaha Music Co., Ltd., emphasized that the collaboration aligns with the company's commitment to fostering a music ecosystem that enriches experiences and elevates the value of music for all age groups. The competition offers a platform for Thai youth to display their musical skills and aspire to international recognition. It also encourages cultural exchange, learning, and development, contributing to sustainable growth in the music community and laying a foundation for Thailand's future in music.
Katsumi Toda, CEO of miki music mirai, highlighted that "we are SNEAKER AGES" has been a specialist in organizing school music competitions in Asia, with a history dating back to 1979. Initially a regional contest for high school music clubs in Kansai, it expanded to a national level in Japan by 2021. Toda noted that the platform promotes friendship and learning through music, helping young musicians grow into inspiring individuals. The competition nurtures vibrant young musicians and provides new generation bands with global stage opportunities.
The competition will see 15 top high school bands from five regions in Thailand compete in the semi-finals at Bangkok's CentralWorld plaza. Ultimately, one band will earn the opportunity to compete on the Asian stage in Osaka, Japan, at the end of 2026, with prizes totaling over 1,500,000 baht.
The competition's rules specify that applicants must be born between April 2, 2008, and April 1, 2014, and must be secondary school students in Thailand. Bands must consist of 3 to 8 members, all from the same school, with only one band per school allowed. Each student can apply only once, ensuring a fair and competitive selection process.
