Sihasak Acknowledges Transgender Group’s Request for Title Change

Bangkok: Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkaew addressed the ongoing requests from the transgender community to use the title "Ms." during a press interview following a Cabinet meeting. The minister acknowledged the challenges faced by transgender individuals when entering foreign countries and discussed potential solutions in collaboration with immigration authorities.

According to Thai News Agency, Sihasak emphasized his awareness of the issue and mentioned that it is often possible to resolve such matters with immigration officials in the destination countries. He noted that while Thailand recognizes marriage equality, adopting the title "Ms." would necessitate amendments to official documents and passport statuses. Sihasak assured that he would further investigate Thai laws and regulations to explore viable solutions for the transgender community's requests.
