Sihasak Commends France for Neutral Stance in Thai-Cambodian Border Dispute

Paris: Prime Minister Srisaket Sihasak held bilateral discussions with the French Minister of European Affairs and Foreign Affairs to strengthen relations marking 170 years in the relationship and commended France's neutral role in the Thai-Cambodian border situation.

According to Thai News Agency, on February 23, 2026, Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkaew, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Jean-No«l Barrow, Minister of European Affairs and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of France, during his visit to Paris, France.

Both sides discussed ways to further strengthen their close and long-standing bilateral relationship, particularly through the continued exchange of high-level visits and enhancing cooperation to elevate the relationship to a "strategic partnership" on the occasion of the 170th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and France this year. The discussions also covered exchanges at the people-to-people and cultural levels.

In addition, both sides discussed geopolitical challenges and security issues in Southeast Asia, which are significant issues for both parties. Mr. Sihasak commended France's neutral and constructive role in promoting peace and stability, particularly in the context of the Thai-Cambodian border situation, and provided information on the situation in Myanmar and efforts to combat online fraud in the region.
