Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sihasak Phuangketkaew, addressed the ongoing unrest in the southern border provinces. In his role as chairman of the government's special representative committee dedicated to resolving issues in these regions, Sihasak indicated plans to consult with the Prime Minister and all relevant parties to strategize the next steps.

According to Thai News Agency, Sihasak expressed his concerns about the situation, noting that intelligence reports had previously highlighted the potential for unrest. Despite having some advance knowledge, he emphasized the unpredictability of the operational timing, which necessitates ongoing intelligence efforts and enhanced preparedness to avert future incidents and mitigate their impact on the public. Sihasak reiterated the Prime Minister's directive to ensure full compensation for those affected by the unrest. He refrained from speculating on the causes of the unrest, choosing instead to focus on forthcoming discussions.
