Hat yai: Dome Jaruwat recounts a critical moment when he was interrupted during a performance and instructed to move his car to avoid flooding in Hat Yai. He cautions against AI images that could mislead and obstruct rescue efforts.
According to Thai News Agency, Dome Jaruwat, a singer, encountered an emergency situation while traveling for a wedding after-party performance. In Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, on November 21st, while performing on stage, a hotel staff member abruptly took his microphone to announce the need for guests to relocate their cars due to impending flooding.
Dome shared that he was hired to perform at a wedding in Hat Yai, traveling there on November 20th for the event. After performing half of his scheduled songs, an announcement was made for guests to move their cars from the basement parking. This coincided with a flood warning from the Hat Yai District Office. Though the water level wasn’t initially concerning, continuous rain led to increased flooding by the next day, with waters reaching car door heights. The hotel took precautionary measures, including power cuts. Dome expressed feeling unprepared for such an event but praised the hotel’s support. He eventually left the hotel in a hired truck and successfully reached the airport, despite flight delays.
Dome noted that many areas still require assistance, as Hat Yai faces severe flooding not seen in some time. Relief centers are being set up to provide crucial supplies. He urges effective communication to ensure help reaches those in need.
Despite the crisis, AI-generated images of animals are circulating, potentially confusing helpers. Dome stresses the importance of sharing accurate information to facilitate effective aid. He also mentioned that while his home in Phuket experiences regular rain, it doesn’t suffer from flooding like Hat Yai. He encourages those willing to help to step forward.
