Bangkok: Siripong Angkasakulkiat, Deputy Minister of Transport and Deputy Leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, has dismissed claims by the People's Power Party (PPRP) regarding the promotion of the "blue regime" as mere political gimmicks. He asserted that the Bhumjaithai Party, having emerged victorious in the elections, remains unaffected by these accusations. Siripong mocked the PPRP, suggesting that their stance changes based on election outcomes-applauding victories and alleging cheating in defeats. He also criticized a politician known as "Teng" for connecting unrelated issues, many of which are standard practices.
According to Thai News Agency, Siripong's remarks were in response to comments made by Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People's Party, concerning the anniversary of the May 22nd coup and the so-called "blue regime," a term referring to media involvement in the coup. Siripong noted that the People's Party has consistently raised the "blue regime" issue, but he dismisses it as a mere tactic for political maneuvering, typical of opposition parties.
Addressing concerns about potential damage to the Bhumjaithai Party due to the People's Party's accusations, Siripong expressed confidence in his party's resilience, emphasizing its electoral success. He noted that accusations of cheating only arise when opposition parties do not win, undermining the significance of such claims. Furthermore, he criticized the People's Party for linking unrelated issues, many of which are routine practices and should not be highlighted as major concerns.
On the topic of political stability, Siripong dismissed the relevance of the People's Party's accusations, stating that similar issues have been raised in the past without impacting stability. He suggested that the continued use of such accusations for political attacks does not threaten the political landscape.
