Six Ministries Honored with Prestigious “Sampao-Nawathong” Award for Fourth Consecutive Year

Bangkok: Government agencies in Thailand have achieved a remarkable feat by winning the “Golden Ship-Nawa” award for the fourth consecutive year. Six ministries were honored with this prestigious accolade, which has been commended by the Chamber of Commerce for their success in reducing business obstacles and continuously improving work processes.

According to Thai News Agency, the “Sampao-Nawathong” Awards ceremony, organized by the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand, was held at the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce’s Main Auditorium in 2025. This annual event recognizes government agencies dedicated to easing business operations and reflects the success of public-private partnerships. This year’s event was presided over by Commerce Minister Chatuporn Buruspat, who delivered a special lecture emphasizing the importance of public sector efficiency and sustainable national development.

Commerce Minister Chatuporn highlighted the structural challenges facing Thailand, including economic volatility, trade competition, and social issues such as high household debt and inequality. He stressed the need for the government to improve efficiency and responsiveness through digital technology and integration of ESG principles, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The minister praised the Thai Chamber of Commerce for encouraging government agencies to enhance their processes through the “Golden Ship and Boat” awards, which have become a catalyst for continuous improvement.

Dr. Poj Aramwattananon, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand, emphasized the creation of a favorable ecosystem for business and investment. He reported significant progress from last year’s collaboration with the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission (OPDC), which reduced over 500 procedures and saved over 7 billion baht annually by promoting data linkage among 22 government agencies. The “Golden Ship – Golden Boat” award, he noted, serves as both an honor and a motivation for agencies to enhance their operations.

Mr. Surong Bulakul, Chairman of the Board of Investment and Business Facilitation, stated that the awards reflect the government’s proactive and forward-looking approach. The awards, evaluated based on Efficiency, Evolution, and Effectiveness, are divided into four categories: ministry-level, department-level, process-level, and regional-level. This year, 39 agencies received awards, including six ministries: the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Labor, and Ministry of Energy. Additionally, numerous departments and regional agencies were recognized, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing service quality and supporting a robust and sustainable economy.
