Six Thai Swimmers Set to Compete in Marathon Swimming at Asian Beach Games

Bangkok: Six endurance swimmers have been announced by the Aquatic Sports Association to represent Thailand in the marathon swimming event at the upcoming 2026 Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, scheduled from April 22-30, 2026. According to Thai News Agency, the association has selected three male swimmers, Mr. Komchan Wichachai, Mr. Kittinan Chotithayangkoon, and Mr. Nithis Netsawang, along with three female swimmers, Miss Thitirat Charoensap, Miss Elizabeth Gullmel, and Miss Chonphatsanap Chatiwut, to compete in the prestigious event. "Coach Tuk," Mr. Thanawich Thosakul, Secretary-General of the Aquatic Sports Association of Thailand, stated that the decision to field these talented marathon swimmers is part of a strategic move to build experience and exposure at an Asian-level competition. Despite the anticipated strong performances from China and Japan, the association sees this as an opportunity for these young athletes to compete against top-tier swimmers. Coach Xavier and the association are focusi ng on nurturing talent, while Kamonchanok Khwanmuang, a SEA Games gold medalist and reigning Asian Championships champion, aims to defend her title in Bali, Indonesia, this June. The men's team for the Asian Beach Athletics 5km race features Komchan Wichachai, while the women's team includes Kittinan Chotithayangkoon. Joining the women's team are Thitirat Charoensap and Elizabeth Gullmel. Together, Komchan Wichachai, Nithis Netsawang, Elizabeth Gullmel, and Chonphatsanap Chatiwut will compete in the 4x1.5km mixed relay event. Furthermore, the Aquatic Sports Association of Thailand has organized the Thailand Marathon Swimming Championships to further prepare their athletes. Series 1 will take place at Ban Krut Beach, Thongchai Subdistrict, Bang Saphan District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, from February 28 to March 1, 2026. Series 2 is planned for natural lakes in Chonburi/Rayong Provinces in June 2026, while Series 3 is set for Jomtien Beach, Pattaya City, Chonburi Province, in November 2026.
