Bangkok: The government has confirmed that the Social Security Board election will proceed as planned on September 27, with 5,000 polling stations set to accommodate 5 million voters. According to Thai News Agency, Lieutenant Colonel Patthadarasmi Thongsalooykorn, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, addressed concerns among insured persons about the upcoming election. She affirmed that the Minister of Labour has ensured there will be no delay or obstruction in the election process.

The recent Administrative Court order to revoke the postponement of the election and proceed as scheduled has led to an appeal, which is regarded as a standard legal procedure. The appeal aims to uphold thorough legal processes and is not an attempt to hinder the election.

Captain Patradarasmi highlighted the progress in the election preparations, noting significant registration by employers and insured persons, with an estimated 5 million expected to vote. The Ministry of Labour is expanding polling stations from over 2,000 to over 5,000, extending to district levels. Additionally, they are developing guidelines for ballot validity and a system to prevent duplicate voting to ensure a smooth voting process.

The government remains committed to safeguarding the rights and interests of all insured persons. Captain Patthadarasmi urged employers and insured persons to participate in the election on September 27, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, emphasizing the importance of voting in shaping the future direction of fund management and benefits for insured persons.
