Social Security Office Ensures Emergency Medical Access for Insured During Songkran

Bangkok: The Social Security Office has expressed its concern for insured persons during the Songkran festival, emphasizing that emergency medical treatment is accessible anywhere without the need for upfront payment. With several consecutive public holidays, a significant number of insured individuals are expected to travel back to their hometowns or go on vacations.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Kanjana Poolkaew, the Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, has advised insured persons to carry their national identification card at all times to facilitate access to medical services. In the event of illness or an emergency accident, individuals can receive immediate treatment at the nearest hospital under the "Emergency Illness: Right to Treatment Anywhere" policy, also known as UCEP (Universal Coverage for Emergency Patients).

The Social Security Office in Bangkok, along with provincial and branch offices across the country, is fully prepared to offer services and assist insured individuals. There is no need for concern as insured persons are assured of immediate treatment in emergencies. However, it is requested that insured individuals or their relatives inform the hospital under their coverage within 72 hours to ensure continued access to treatment and medical services.

Ms. Kanjana concluded her statement by extending well-wishes from the Social Security Office executives and staff to all insured persons and their families. She wished them happiness, good health, and safety during their travels, along with a joyful Songkran festival. Insured individuals who travel during Songkran and experience illness, accidents, or require emergency treatment are covered by Social Security benefits anywhere, without the need for upfront payments.
