Social Security Office Reveals Over 1.2 Million Feedbacks on Draft Regulations for Board Elections

Bangkok: The Social Security Office (SSO) has disclosed the number of participants who provided feedback on the draft regulations for electing the Social Security Board, emphasizing the inclusivity of the review process and the importance of every opinion.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Kanjana Poolkaew, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, announced that the office had been gathering opinions and suggestions from various sectors on the Ministry of Labour's draft regulations for electing employer and employee representatives to the Social Security Board. This consultation took place from January 15, 2026, to February 14, 2026, and garnered significant interest, resulting in 1,244,260 submissions.

The Social Security Office provided three channels for stakeholders to submit their feedback. The central legal system at www.law.go.th received the most comments, accounting for 56.21% of the total. The Social Security Office website, www.sso.go.th, accounted for 36.26% of submissions, while feedback centers at Social Security offices nationwide received input from 7.53% of respondents.

In terms of participant demographics, insured persons under Section 33 formed the largest group, contributing 73.74% of the feedback. This was followed by insured persons under Section 39 at 10.99%, insured persons under Section 40 at 3.89%, employers at 1.80%, organizations or networks at 0.15%, the general public at 8.88%, and others at 0.56%. The data highlights the engagement of stakeholders in shaping regulations related to the rights and responsibilities of insured persons and employers.

The Secretary-General highlighted that all feedback is valued equally. The SSO processes and analyzes the information comprehensively to ensure that the conclusions drawn accurately reflect stakeholder intentions, in line with the Act on Principles for Drafting Laws and Evaluating the Effectiveness of Laws B.E. 2562 (2019). A summary report of the consultation will be submitted to the Sub-committee on Amending the Ministry of Labour Regulations and the Social Security Board by March 2026. The report will then be sent to the Minister of Labour for consideration of implementation guidelines according to the law.
