Sisaket: The 2nd Army Area Command has provided details on a recent incident involving a soldier who was severely injured during a routine patrol in the Khao Satta Som region. The soldier, part of a unit stationed in Kantaralak District, Sisaket Province, suffered a serious injury after tripping over a bamboo spike.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred on April 12th at approximately 5:30 PM. Sergeant Peerapat Mathurat, who serves as the firing squad leader of the 1st Platoon, 123rd Company, from the 12th Infantry Battalion (3rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion), was conducting a security patrol near his base when he accidentally tripped. This led to a bamboo stake, which was part of the defensive measures of the base, piercing his left thigh, resulting in a significant wound and considerable blood loss.
Emergency medical personnel on-site acted swiftly to provide first aid to Sergeant Mathurat before he was transported to Kantaralak Hospital. At the hospital, doctors performed surgery to address the damaged blood vessel caused by the bamboo spike. Fortunately, Sergeant Mathurat is now out of danger, having been moved from the intensive care unit to a general ward. He remains under close medical supervision as he continues his recovery.
