Soldiers Evacuate Flood Victims Amid High Currents in Krabi

Krabi:Soldiers are urgently evacuating 60 people stranded in their homes due to flooding in Nuea Khlong District, Krabi Province. They are utilizing ropes to construct makeshift bridges, assisting villagers in crossing the fast-flowing waters to reach safety.

According to Thai News Agency, images capture the tense evacuation as soldiers help residents stranded in Pakasai Subdistrict. The troops navigated strong currents, securing ropes to trees to provide support against the powerful floodwaters. They carefully guided men, women, and children out of the inundated area, ensuring everyone's safety.

The flooding has isolated 25 families, totaling 60 individuals, from the outside world. While some have moved to temporary shelters with relatives, others remain to protect their property despite high water levels.

Additionally, administrative officials, military personnel, and local authorities are employing high-lift vehicles and flat-bottomed boats to rescue those affected in Khao Phanom and Nuea Khlong districts. Heavy rainfall continues to impact Krabi Province, with five districts declared disaster zones. Residents have been warned to remain vigilant against heavy rain, flash floods, and landslides until October 25th, as the cumulative rainfall recently exceeded 111 millimeters.

Tragically, in Trang Province, flash floods at the Phrai Sawan Waterfall led to the death of Suphat, the aunt of singer Bao Wee R-Siam. She was swept away while attempting to cross a bridge. After an extensive search, her body was found more than 2.5 kilometers from the accident site.

The Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPC) has announced a plan to address flooding in five southern provinces. The center has established a relief hub to coordinate efforts and report to the Prime Minister. Measures include deploying volunteer graduates to deliver relief documents, a 24-hour hotline for assistance, and a model shelter for vulnerable individuals. Over 50 million baht has been allocated to support the affected regions.
