Somchai Uncovers Alleged Ballot Mystery Amidst Election Commission’s Efforts

Bangkok: Former Election Commissioner Somchai Srisutthiyakorn has stirred significant attention by revealing what he calls the "death ballots" mystery, which suggests that the Election Commission's attempts to obscure voting details have been outwitted.

According to Thai News Agency, Somchai shared on Facebook that detectives have successfully deciphered hidden codes, claiming the ability to identify voters' choices.

Somchai detailed how the Election Commission's efforts to conceal numbers on ballot stubs were circumvented by two adept detectives. Despite the Commission's attempts to erase identifying numbers, all ballots reportedly still contain QR codes and barcodes. The QR codes, used on green cards, connect to groups of no more than 20 cards, aligning with the number of cards in one booklet. Somchai emphasized that these codes do not directly link to individual voters.

Furthermore, the new pink ballots were found to have a barcode underneath, with the potential use of invisible ink for ballot numbers. The Election Commission's strategy, as per Somchai's post, was to prevent tracing voters' choices by omitting visible numbers on ballot stubs, aiming for an honest and fair election process.

The detectives involved scanned every ballot during the counting process and identified a unique nine-digit barcode beginning with 'A,' which may have been invisibly printed on stubs. This discovery, Somchai claims, enabled them to trace voter choices at a specific polling station, surpassing the Commission's security measures.

Somchai's revelations have raised questions about the integrity and transparency of the electoral process. The implications of these findings are yet to be fully understood, and the situation continues to develop as further details are awaited.
