Lam plai mas: "Sophon" is advancing a livable city project aimed at enhancing the health and well-being of the elderly, engaging 600 participants in activities designed to foster happiness and alleviate depression. He encourages the government to provide comprehensive care for individuals of all ages and extends an invitation to local authorities to explore the Lam Plai Mas Model through a study tour.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sophon Saram, President of the Parliament and Speaker of the House of Representatives, alongside Mr. Sak Saram, Member of Parliament for Buriram Province from the Bhumjaithai Party, the Mayor of Lam Plai Mas Municipality, and various public health officials, collaborated with community colleges to organize a "Livable Town" event. The event focused on promoting quality products, upholding good traditions, ensuring quality education, fostering good health, and maintaining a drug-free environment.
Today's activities, centered on promoting good health, were part of the Smart Mom project in Lam Plai Mas District, extending into the Senior Citizen School. The event featured sports competitions for senior citizens, including egg balancing games, bird nesting games, ball throwing, and blindfolded hole-gazing. Additionally, products from different sub-district administrative organizations were available for purchase. Approximately 600 senior citizens from across the district participated in the day-long activities, which included a communal lunch and created a joyful atmosphere, bringing happiness to all involved.
Mr. Sophon highlighted that the health quality improvement project in Lam Plai Mas District aims to foster positive attitudes towards childbirth, prenatal care, and education. The Lam Plai Mas Municipality has piloted the establishment of a municipal school to provide quality education for underprivileged children, ensuring comprehensive care from birth to adulthood. This initiative is essential for developing quality citizens and maintaining care throughout their lives, a responsibility that local authorities must diligently uphold. Mr. Sophon stressed that the government should earnestly focus on human resource development to compete globally.
'Creating a quality society means that instead of letting elderly people stay home alone or inactive, which could lead to depression, we organize activities for them to socialize and have fun. This is a positive aspect of the Lam Plai Mat Livable City project, and we invite any interested local authorities to come and see the Lam Plai Mat Livable City Model,' said Mr. Sophon.
