Bangkok: Southeast Bangkok University celebrated its 24th annual graduation ceremony for the academic year 2024-2025, marking a significant step in its mission to cultivate graduates ready to thrive in the green economy market. The ceremony took place at the BITEC Exhibition and Convention Center in Bangkok, where Mr. Plakorn Suwannarat, a Privy Councillor, presided over the event, conferring degrees across various levels of higher education.
According to Thai News Agency, the university awarded a total of 1,030 doctoral degrees, 58 master's degrees, and 953 bachelor's degrees. Additionally, honorary doctorates were conferred upon three notable individuals: Police General Ek Angsananont, Dr. Poj Aramwattananont, and Mr. Kriengkrai Thianukul. This initiative aligns with the university's strategy to equip graduates with the skills and ethical grounding necessary to address the challenges of the shifting global economy.
Dr. Poj Aramwattananon, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the importance of shifting away from traditional business models that prioritize short-term profits without considering environmental impacts. He stated that businesses must now embrace the green economy to remain viable in a global market that values sustainability as a key criterion for trade partnerships. This shift opens doors to opportunities for businesses that prioritize environmental responsibility.
Mr. Kriengkrai Thianukul, President of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), highlighted the FTI's commitment to preparing entrepreneurs for the new business landscape. The organization focuses on enhancing knowledge and organizing seminars to promote modern practices. He emphasized the need to transform traditional industries into green industries by adopting alternative energy, hydrogen innovation, and advanced energy storage systems.
Police General Ek Angsananont underscored the importance of developing a new generation grounded in good governance. He highlighted the necessity for young professionals to balance business success with environmental protection, ensuring a sustainable and livable world for future generations. Transparency, compliance with the law, morality, and integrity were identified as critical components for sustainable growth.
