Speaker of Parliament Leads Religious Ceremony to Honor Princess Bajrakitiyabha

Bangkok: The Speaker of Parliament led the House of Representatives in holding a religious ceremony to commemorate the 15th day since the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha.

According to Thai News Agency, the House of Representatives organized a 15-day memorial service at the Parliament building to dedicate merit to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavadi, Krom Luang Rajasarinisiripatchara Mahavajrarajathida. The ceremony was led by Mr. Sophon Saram, President of the Parliament and Speaker of the House of Representatives, with participation from executives, civil servants, and personnel of the Secretariat of the House of Representatives.

The memorial service took place in the Members of Parliament's reception room at the Parliament building. Mr. Sophon Saram, along with the Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, Deputy Secretaries-General, and other officials, attended the solemn event. Prior to the ceremony, the Speaker inspected the arrangements and engaged in discussions with executives and officials about the Four Sublime States of Mind (Brahma Vihara 4) and their relevance in personal and professional life.

On this occasion, the Speaker offered breakfast to ten monks of high ecclesiastical rank from Wat Saket Ratchaworamahaviharn. The ceremony included the chanting of Buddhist prayers by the monks, followed by the offering of gifts to the monks by the Speaker and attendees. The monks then performed funeral rites, with the presiding monk leading a minute of silent meditation to dedicate merit to the deceased. The monks offered blessings, after which the Speaker conducted a symbolic water-pouring act to receive blessings, bowed before the Triple Gem at the altar, paid respects to the Buddha image, and bid farewell to the monks.
