Bangkok: The Stock Exchange of Thailand announced a temporary suspension of trading before the close of the morning session after Thai stocks experienced a sharp decline of 117 points.
According to Thai News Agency, the trading halt was initiated today from 12:18 PM to 12:30 PM, following a 117.52-point, or 8.01%, drop in the stock price index from the previous closing price, triggering Circuit Breaker Level 1. Trading is set to resume in the afternoon session at its usual hours.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) confirmed the temporary suspension of trading for all securities, including those on the Market for Alternative Investment (MAI) and SET securities. However, other assets with underlying assets other than SET common shares will continue to trade normally. The SET has requested that members refrain from placing securities trading orders using automated computer orders, known as program trading, when trading resumes until the market closes on March 4, 2026.
In addition to the securities trading halt, the Stock Exchange of Thailand also temporarily suspended trading in Index Futures, Index Options, and Single Stock Futures from 12:18 PM onwards on March 4, 2026. This move was in response to the same 117.52-point, or 8.01%, drop in the SET Index from the previous day's closing price, which activated the Circuit Breaker.
