Fujian: The impact of Tropical Storm Ganari has caused severe flooding in China's Fujian province. Several rivers have overflowed their banks, transforming many residential areas in Longyan city into raging floodplains.

According to Thai News Agency, videos circulating on social media yesterday showed waist-deep, murky water submerging streets across heavily affected areas of Longyan City. One video showed boats being towed through the floodwaters, while another, recorded from inside a moving vehicle, revealed flooded city streets with cars partially submerged along the sides.

Due to the situation, the Quanzhou city government raised the heavy rainfall alert level to level 1 on August 25th, as a result of the impact of Typhoon Ganari. Meanwhile, the Jinjiang Meteorological Station issued a red alert, the highest level for heavy rainfall, on the same day.

Typhoon Ganari made landfall in Fujian Province for the first time at noon on Monday, August 24, before weakening into a tropical storm. The China National Meteorological Administration revealed that Tropical Cyclone Ganari and Asani merged with Typhoons Narra and Sodel, forming a rare four-storm phenomenon that rotated around the northwest Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea.
