Bangkok: The Student Loan Fund (SLF) has launched its Pre-Approve system today, allowing new borrowers to apply for loans for the 2026 academic year. This initiative is part of the government's efforts to enhance access to education and reduce social inequality across the nation.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ploytalay Laksmisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, emphasized the government's commitment to providing educational opportunities for Thai youth, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds. The Pre-Approve system aims to screen new student borrowers who meet specific criteria, including those with a state welfare card, past recipients of scholarships from the Equitable Education Fund (EEF), and individuals with a family income not exceeding 360,000 baht per year. The focus is on supporting students studying in fields vital to national development or those promoted by the fund.
Secondary and vocational students can access the Pre-Approve system from May 16th to June 13th, 2026, while university students have a window from June 1st to July 13th, 2026. Applications can be submitted via www.studentloan.or.th. Those meeting eligibility criteria and receiving approval must then submit their loan application through the DSL system. Existing borrowers advancing in the same educational institution can confirm their loan disbursement from May 16th to August 31st, 2026.
Ms. Ploytalay further clarified that new borrowers include students who have never borrowed from the fund before, those who have changed their education level, or those who have switched educational institutions. They are encouraged to prepare for the Pre-Approve process and, upon receiving loan approval, proceed with the DSL system application. The Student Loan Fund advises students to prepare necessary documents and adhere to deadlines. More information is available at https://www.studentloan.or.th/th/news/1767767963.
