Sukhothai Flooding Disrupts Travel and Access to Key Facilities

Sukhothai: Sukhothai is still suffering from high flooding, making travel difficult. Sukhothai is still experiencing flooding in front of Sukhothai Hospital, with water levels reaching 60-80 cm. People are required to climb sandbags to navigate in and out of the area.

According to Thai News Agency, in Mueang Sukhothai District, particularly on Charoenwithithong Road, the water level has risen by 10 cm, rendering it impassable for small vehicles. This road accommodates significant institutions such as Sukhothai Hospital, Sukhothai Technical College, Sukhothai Wittayakhom School, Sukhothai College of Dramatic Arts, and Wat Kamphaeng Ngam. To aid travelers, officials have established two pick-up and drop-off points for those needing to reach Sukhothai Hospital and pass through flooded zones. Six-wheeled trucks from the Sukhothai Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department and Sukhothai Hospital are being used for transportation. The designated pick-up points are located in front of Kasikorn Bank Sukhothai Branch on the Sukhothai Thani Municipality side, and in front of Big C Sukhothai, Ban Kluai Subdistrict, Mueang Sukhothai District.

Meanwhile, floodwaters around Sukhothai Hospital are 10-20 centimeters deep. In response, large sandbags are being deployed to manage the floodwaters. The area in front of the hospital experiences water levels of 60-80 centimeters, leading to significant challenges for patients and the general public as they navigate the sandbags to access the facility. However, the patient-serving building remains unaffected at this time.
