Mae sai: A severe summer storm struck Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, at 9:00 PM, leading to a major disruption as a telecommunications tower collapsed onto high-voltage power lines, causing a widespread power outage across the district. This incident has significantly impacted both the local community and transportation systems.
According to Thai News Agency, the fallen radio communication tower, which belonged to the Phromviharn Foundation, also obstructed the main Phahonyothin Highway's northbound lanes. This forced authorities to temporarily close the road to ensure the safety of motorists and prevent any accidents from occurring due to the precarious situation.
In response to the crisis, officials from the Wiang Phang Kham Subdistrict Municipality acted swiftly to clear the obstructions on the road, enabling the resumption of normal traffic flow. They have also been in coordination with various agencies to inspect and repair the damaged electrical system to restore power to the district.
Authorities have urged residents to avoid the affected areas and exercise caution due to the ongoing risk of adverse weather, which includes potential summer storms and strong winds in the region.
