Bangkok: Supachai has called upon the Election Commission to investigate allegations against major parties for submitting candidate lists without conducting primary votes. Supachai highlighted irregularities in a major party's decision to secretly submit parliamentary candidate names in the central region without holding the necessary primary votes, urging immediate investigation due to the potential severity of the penalty, which could dissolve the party.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Supachai Jaisamut, a candidate for the party-list MP and a prominent figure in the Bhumjaithai Party, disclosed that a major political party in the central region has exhibited irregularities in its primary voting process for MP candidates. The party is accused of conducting its primary elections without a legally sanctioned representative in certain provinces, while still issuing candidate certification letters for various constituencies in those areas. Should the investigation confirm violations of the Political Parties Act, the repercussions could be significant, potentially leading to the party's dissolution.
Mr. Supachai has also called on the Election Commission to expedite the investigation and provide clarity on the matter promptly. He emphasized the importance of media and public vigilance in monitoring the Election Commission's actions to ensure that the electoral process is transparent and fair.
