Bangkok:Supachai Jaisamut has raised objections to the actions of the chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee following the announcement of potential investigations into Suchada Sangtanasap and Chaiyanok Chidchob.
According to Thai News Agency, Supachai criticized the committee's chairman, Rangsiman Rome, for including agenda items without a committee resolution, stating that the chairman made assumptions without authority. Supachai emphasized that any complaint filed would impact everyone involved.
Supachai, a party-list MP and chairman of the legal affairs committee of the Bhumjaithai Party, publicly expressed his disagreement with Rangsiman's conduct, alleging procedural violations and an overreach of authority. He noted that agenda items, such as those involving Suchada and Chaiyanok, were added without proper submission and were irrelevant to the committee's purview.
Supachai also pointed out that Rangsiman altered the committee's meeting schedule, affecting members' ability to attend other committee meetings. He criticized the frequency and nature of press conferences held by Rangsiman, which he argued did not always reflect the committee's deliberations or resolutions.
The MP highlighted the overlap of issues among the 35 committees in the House of Representatives, mentioning that some topics brought before the Legal Affairs Committee were outside its jurisdiction and overlapped with other committees' responsibilities. Supachai has requested clarification from the Speaker of the House of Representatives to address these overlaps.
Supachai insisted that the committee lacks the authority to pursue the case against Suchada and warned that pursuing such actions could lead to regulatory violations and complaints affecting all parties involved. He clarified that the matter would be discussed in the committee meeting, emphasizing the need to address the fear and unease towards the chairman through appropriate channels.
