Supajee Hosts Inaugural Meeting to Tackle Economic Challenges and Public Welfare

Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Supajee, convened a pivotal meeting involving experts from the economic, trade, and diplomatic sectors to address the ongoing economic crisis and strategize on enhancing the nation's long-term competitiveness.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Ms. Supajee Suthamphan, welcomed a distinguished assembly of advisors at the Ministry of Commerce for an informal meeting. The delegation comprised notable figures such as Mr. Veerasak Kowsurat, former Minister of Tourism and Sports; Dr. Kobsak Pootrakul, Senior Executive Vice President of Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piti Srisangnam, Executive Director of the ASEAN Foundation; and Mr. Nat Luangnarumitchai, a capital market expert from the Stock Exchange of Thailand, among others.

Additionally, the meeting saw the participation of diplomatic and trade representatives, including Ms. Nongnuch Petcharat, former Ambassador to Austria and Germany; Mr. Chutintorn Kongsak, former Ambassador to New Delhi; and Mr. Veerapong Prapha, former Thai Trade Representative to the European Union. These individuals are part of the Thailand Trade Representatives (TTR) group.

This inaugural meeting under Ms. Supajee's leadership aimed to gather insights from national experts in fields such as macroeconomics, international trade policy, law, and capital markets. The goal was to develop policy recommendations that could alleviate the current economic pressures and brace the country for future uncertainties.

The discussions also focused on long-term policy strategies to boost Thailand's competitiveness in the face of global supply chain shifts and evolving trade geopolitics. The Deputy Prime Minister underscored the necessity of integrating expert knowledge across sectors to ensure that policy formulation is thorough and meets the needs of businesses while benefiting the public at large.
