Bangkok: "Supajee" is preparing to propose measures to help the public cope with the energy crisis to the Cabinet tomorrow. The Minister of Commerce revealed that measures to help the public cope with the energy crisis that is driving up prices of goods will be proposed to the Cabinet meeting tomorrow (March 17).
According to Thai News Agency, discussions were held between Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul and economic and energy ministers such as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanpraphas, Minister of Commerce Supajee Suthamphan, and Minister of Energy Attapol Rerkpiboon. The Prime Minister convened a meeting to find measures to address the fuel price issue after the diesel price freeze ended after 15 days. No statement was released following the meeting, and the Prime Minister left Government House in his car without giving any interviews.
Commerce Minister Supajee Suthamphan stated that discussions with the Prime Minister regarding the energy crisis had yielded no results. She added that measures would be implemented but urged the public to wait for updates from the Center for Monitoring and Managing the Conflict in the Middle East (CMC). She also acknowledged that she would propose measures to assist the public to the Cabinet meeting tomorrow. He nodded in agreement but did not answer the question about whether the public was now concerned and would start stockpiling consumer goods.
Meanwhile, Mr. Laworn Saengsanit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, declined to answer whether the government needed to issue an emergency decree to borrow money to compensate for the oil fund, stating only that the question should be directed to Mr. Ekniti Nitithanpraphas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.
