Supamas Directs Swift Action for Nan Province Health Volunteers’ Compensation

Nan:Supamas Isarabhakdi has directed the Consumer Protection Board to expedite the compensation process for village health volunteers in Nan province affected by a dietary supplement issue.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Supamas, a Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, has instructed the Secretary-General of the Consumer Protection Board, Mr. Ronnarong Poolpipat, to accelerate assistance for the affected volunteers in Nan Noi District. The volunteers fell ill after consuming a dietary supplement, and Ms. Supamas has emphasized the need to closely monitor the compensation process and provide legal aid to ensure justice is served.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has expressed concern over the situation, highlighting the importance of protecting consumer rights. The Consumer Protection Board has been tasked with coordinating efforts with justice and public health agencies, as well as the Nan Provincial Consumer Rights Protection Center, to investigate the supplement's safety and secure compensation for the affected individuals.

The incident occurred during a capacity-building training program for village health volunteers from September 25-27, 2026, impacting 104 individuals. A recent mediation session on October 30, 2026, did not include the manufacturing company, which plans to submit its proposed actions by November 2, 2026. Should a resolution not be reached, legal action will be pursued through the Nan Provincial Consumer Rights Protection Center.

Ms. Supamas stressed the importance of serious consumer protection efforts, particularly when citizens are affected, and compensation remains unresolved. She affirmed that government agencies must actively support citizens in claiming their rights, providing necessary care and assistance.

Village Health Volunteers play a crucial role in public health, and the government is committed to fully supporting their rights, according to Ms. Supamas. The Consumer Protection Board will continue to seek effective solutions, including fair compensation and legal support, to reassure those affected of ongoing government care and assistance.
