Bangkok: Supamas has directed the Public Relations Department’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) to work with MCOT to modify the state media schedule to provide real-time monitoring of the flood situation in the South, following the Cabinet’s decision to declare a state of emergency in vulnerable areas. This move is to ensure the public receives accurate and timely information.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Supamas Isaraphakdi, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, emphasized that the government is prioritizing assistance to individuals in all at-risk areas in the lower southern region. The state of emergency declared by the Cabinet in severely affected provinces allows relevant agencies to operate with flexibility, integrate their efforts, and provide timely aid. This includes evacuating and transporting victims, and providing essential supplies like food, drinking water, shelter, and emergency relief.
Ms. Supamas assured the public that assistance efforts are being maximized. The Royal Family has shown concern for those affected, providing immediate relief supplies, including royal relief bags and kitchens, to ease their suffering.
On the communications front, Ms. Supamas has tasked NBT, the Public Relations Department, and MCOT to adjust programming and expand real-time reporting to deliver accurate information continuously and reduce confusion during the crisis.
NBT Television Station has replaced its regular programming with a special program, “Flood Monitoring in the South,” starting November 24, 2025. This program reports directly from affected areas and connects with radio stations nationwide, including online platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, NBT Connext, and provincial public relations pages. NBT Songkhla FM 90.5 MHz serves as the main real-time information hub for the southern region.
MCOT has joined efforts with NBT to enhance its news coverage, deploying its 10 southern radio stations to reflect local conditions and urgent needs.
The government has also set up a central real-time information system for the public, covering water levels, road outages, utility statuses, evacuation routes, and relief pick-up points. This information is shared across media channels, including Channel 9, Channel 11, and various online platforms, enabling the public to make informed decisions.
To support concrete relief efforts, Ms. Supamas has directed the Public Relations Department and MCOT to collaborate with NBT to establish a “Donation Center for Disaster Relief in the South” at NBT Television Station on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, Din Daeng District, starting November 26, 2025. Donations are welcome daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
