Bangkok: Supamas unveils innovative vision to transform the lives of Thai people, moving forward with reforming state media and preparing a data system for the Royal Cremation Ceremony.
According to Thai News Agency, today at The Athenee Hotel, Bangkok, Ms. Supamas Isaraphakdi, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office and Chairwoman of the Public Relations Committee for the Royal Cremation Ceremony of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother, delivered a special address at the “Chula Engineering 111 Years: ENGINEERING THE FUTURE: Innovation Transforming the Future” event, organized by the Chulalongkorn University Engineering Alumni Association. The event was attended by a large number of alumni, researchers, the private sector, and those interested in innovation.
Ms. Supamas stated that meaningful innovations for the nation don’t necessarily require sophisticated technology. Instead, they must begin with an understanding of people’s real problems and design practical and sustainable solutions. She cited examples of innovations that have transformed the quality of life of Thais, such as irradiated food that extends shelf life and opens the way to international markets, new health products, durian grading tools to reduce uneven ripeness, and modern services like ride-hailing systems, chauffeur-driven services, and food delivery platforms that make travel and life more convenient.
Ms. Supamas added that disaster response innovations are crucial for Thailand, including ready-to-eat meals, internet-enabled rescue boats, mobile water filters, and drones used to rescue people in hard-to-reach areas. These demonstrate that innovative ideas that effectively solve immediate problems often have the greatest impact on people’s lives.
As state media regulator, Ms. Supamas outlined key directions for improving government communication mechanisms. She stated that the country’s biggest problem isn’t a lack of information, but rather its fragmentation and inaccessibility. Therefore, she is developing new media systems that citizens can actually use, such as fake news detection systems, automated data summaries, AI influencer systems to easily explain government information, and automated sign language interpreters, all of which ensure equal access to information for all groups of citizens.
In addition, as Chair of the Royal Cremation Ceremony Public Relations Committee, Ms. Supamas discussed the preparation of a centralized information system for the Royal Cremation Ceremony of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother. The system aims to organize important information into a single, easily searchable, interconnected, and immediately available for dissemination. A clear timeline for communication is in place, and media will be prepared in an easily understandable format. A data verification system will be in place to prevent discrepancies. Communications in English and sign language will also be supported, ensuring that both domestic and international audiences receive accurate, complete, and accessible information without discrimination.
The event was filled with an exchange of ideas on innovation and new hopes for the country. Participants praised Ms. Supamas’s direction and vision, emphasizing the use of innovation to truly enhance people’s quality of life, along with organizing government data for effective use, a crucial foundation for long-term national development.
