Santa clara: Super Bowl 60 set a new record for the second highest viewership ever. Nearly 125 million television viewers in the United States watched the Seattle Seahawks defeat the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl LX on Sunday, making it the second-most-watched Super Bowl in U.S. television history.
According to Thai News Agency, data from Nielsen, a market research company that collects and analyzes consumer behavior, particularly television viewership ratings, released on Tuesday showed an average of 124.9 million viewers across the NBC television network (part of Comcast), the Peacock streaming service, the Spanish-language station Telemundo, and other digital platforms, including NFL+. This marks the highest viewership in NBC's history.
Although the average viewership didn't quite break the record of 127.7 million viewers set by last year's Super Bowl between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs, the game at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, set a new record with a peak viewership of 137.8 million viewers during the second quarter.
This high level of popularity has led brands to pay up to $10 million USD, or approximately 350 million THB, for a 30-second advertisement.
The halftime show by Latin rapper Bad Bunny garnered an average of 128.2 million viewers and became a social media phenomenon with over 4 billion views within the first 24 hours. Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin were invited to perform, celebrating Puerto Rican culture and Daddy Yankee, the Puerto Rican artist hailed as the "King of Reggaeton."
However, the selection of Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, to perform drew criticism from President Donald Trump and conservatives due to his use of Spanish throughout the performance and his criticism of U.S. immigration policy. This led to the organization of an alternative concert, the "All-American Halftime Show," by Turning Point USA, led by Kid Rock and other artists, around the same time.
