Bangkok: The Supreme Court has ordered the removal of the names of seven parliamentary candidates from seven provinces due to disqualifying criteria. The Election Commission reiterated that voting for these candidates is prohibited, as their ballots will be invalid.
According to Thai News Agency, on January 31st at 3:30 PM, at the Election Commission office, Acting Sub-Lieutenant Phasakon Siriphakayaporn, Deputy Secretary-General of the Election Commission, announced that February 1st, 2026, is the advance voting day. He clarified the issue of constituency MP candidates whose names were removed from the candidate registration list under Section 52 of the Organic Law on the Election of Members of the House of Representatives.
The Supreme Court's decision came as requested by the Election Director of each constituency. The candidates in question were found to lack the necessary qualifications or possess disqualifying characteristics. The affected candidates are: Mr. Chalong Saengratmekhin from Nakhon Ratchasima Constituency 13, Ms. Chayanant Jindajia from Ratchaburi Constituency 3, Mr. Ratchapong Soisuwan from Tak Constituency 2, Mr. Pasit Khamchai from Chaiyaphum Constituency 2, Mr. Cholsit Kaewyarat from Phuket Constituency 2, Ms. Wanmai Songsilsaad from Rayong Constituency 4, and Mr. Kitsanat Inprom from Nakhon Si Thammarat Constituency 3.
The Election Commission urges eligible voters in these constituencies to be aware that voting for any of the candidates listed above will invalidate their ballots.
