Suradet Yasawat to Lead PPRP in Upper Northern Region Election Battle

Bangkok: Mr. Suradej Yasawat, deputy leader of the Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP), has been appointed by Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan to oversee the party’s election campaign in the upper northern region of Thailand. The region comprises eight provinces: Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Phrae, Mae Hong Son, and Nan, which altogether account for 34 districts and an equal number of MPs.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suradej emphasized the party’s commitment to the institution as its primary campaign message. He assured that the PPRP aims to be a contemporary party, ready to work with both the old and new generations. The party is focused on solving economic issues and promoting love for the institution, which includes the nation, religion, and monarchy.

Mr. Suradej stated that the PPRP opposes the opening of casinos and aims to address the drug problem in a practical manner. He believes these policies will garner significant support from the northern population. The party has set a target of winning 60 seats in the upcoming election, as outlined by Gen. Prawit.

When questioned about the party’s strategy in Phayao Province against Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao of the Kla Tham Party, Mr. Suradej expressed a preference for collaboration over competition, emphasizing shared values and goals.
