Suspect Arrested for Murder of Transgender Woman by Slitting Throat

Rayong: A gruesome murder has shocked the residents of Rayong Province as a suspect has been apprehended for the brutal killing of a transgender woman. The victim, identified by villagers as a scrap collector, was found with her throat slit and wooden sticks shoved into her nostrils, her body abandoned by the roadside. Despite the arrest, the suspect continues to deny involvement in the crime.

According to Thai News Agency, the victim, Mr. Wichai, a 51-year-old transgender woman known for collecting scrap and working as a rubber tapper, was last seen pushing a cart along the road. This was captured in a clip by locals while she was halted at a red light, mere hours before her body was discovered. The victim suffered multiple stab wounds, and her mouth was bound with cloth. Her body was found at the edge of the Nong Pla Lai reservoir, with evidence of a struggle nearby.

Local villagers reported seeing Mr. Wichai with a 36-year-old woman shortly before he vanished. Although the nature of their interaction remains unclear, this sighting has become a critical lead for investigators. The woman’s involvement is under scrutiny, especially since Mr. Wichai had been seen participating in a circle dance at a temple fair before his untimely death.

The investigation took a significant turn when footage from a CCTV camera provided vital clues. The video showed Mr. Wichai and the female suspect traveling toward the reservoir, and later evidence surfaced of the suspect washing clothes worn during the incident at a laundry shop. Law enforcement officials have since visited the suspect’s residence, discovering a knife and Mr. Wichai’s belongings. Despite the mounting evidence, the suspect remains in denial, prompting authorities to seek an arrest warrant for further custody.
