Trang: Officials are urgently questioning suspects in the case of gold missing from a municipal pawnshop in Trang. Initial findings indicate that CCTV cameras malfunctioned intermittently during the New Year holiday period. It is suspected that more than one person is involved, and authorities are gathering evidence to request arrest warrants from the court.

According to Thai News Agency, more than 10 members of the Local Government Pawnshop Management Committee, along with Mr. Theeraphan Siripakmanon, the Trang Provincial Local Government Officer, inspected the assets inside the pawnshop. Initial estimates put the damage at approximately 3-5 million baht. Forensic officers from the Trang City Police Station collected fingerprints and reviewed CCTV footage. Preliminary findings revealed no signs of forced entry into the safe, but the building's internal CCTV system experienced intermittent failures during the New Year's holiday.

Police Major General Phaskorn Phakdiwanich, commander of the Trang Provincial Police, stated that four out of nine employees responsible for the safe and present during the theft have been questioned. The investigation is expanding to include the remaining employees, focusing on various aspects such as personal conduct, debt, online gambling, local political conflicts, and internal management shortcomings. He confirmed that the suspect's identity is known but details remain undisclosed as evidence is being gathered for an arrest warrant. Authorities believe the crime may involve multiple individuals.

Meanwhile, the area in front of the pawnshop remains tense, with customers arriving to check on their pawned items and inquire about the responsibility of the authorities.
